Sean Rhea bought a PowerTap Pro on April 20, 2006 and immediately set to figuring out how to use it from his Mac without using Virtual PC. With help from Russ Cox and David Easter, he wrote two command-line programs for downloading data from a PowerTap and interpreting that data. Sean released these two tools, ptdl and ptunpk, on May 4, 2006.

The following example implements a simple interval timer, which sets off an alarm every five seconds. When the alarm occurs, a MessageBox displays a count of the number of times the alarm has started and prompts the user as to whether the timer should continue to run.

A Timer is used to raise an event at user-defined intervals. This Windows timer is designed for a single-threaded environment where UI threads are used to perform processing. It requires that the user code have a UI message pump available and always operate from the same thread, or marshal the call onto another thread.

When you use this timer, use the Tick event to perform a polling operation or to display a splash screen for a specified period of time. Whenever the Enabled property is set to true and the Interval property is greater than zero, the Tick event is raised at intervals based on the Interval property setting.

The Windows Forms Timer component is single-threaded, and is limited to an accuracy of 55 milliseconds. If you require a multithreaded timer with greater accuracy, use the Timer class in the System.Timers namespace.

You can create an unlimited number of levels so you can train to your own specific needs. Go to "Ear Training Camp" to learn church modes, or focus on those two pesky intervals that keep bothering you.

As now you could in theory hold off synchronization indefinitely, there is the maximum timer. This timer is started after the first change that you made and when it reaches 60 seconds, then a synchronization will occur to upload all the changes that you have made thus far, no matter how many seconds are left on the upload timer.

  • The Registry keys mentioned above can also be set via Group Policy. You can find the settings for this in the following location;User Configuration-> Administrative Templates-> Microsoft Outlook 2016-> Account Settings-> Exchange-> Cached Exchange Mode->

  • Enter maximum seconds to wait to sync changes

  • Enter seconds to wait to download changes from server

  • Enter seconds to wait to upload changes to server

Jiggler is a little freeware app with one purpose: to keep your Mac awake. When you have some lengthy task for your computer to do, it's annoying to have to turn off your screensaver and turn off the sleep timer, only to have to turn it all back on again when you're done. (The "never sleep" corner will keep your screensaver from kicking in, but still won't prevent your machine from falling asleep.) What you really want is a little helper who will bump your mouse every once in a while to keep your machine alert. That's Jiggler.
